Celtic goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel is “not good enough anymore” and it’s time for Denmark to think about a change.
That’s according to B.T.’s ‘football expert’ Jannick Liburd, speaking on the podcast B.T. Fodbold about the Celtic number one.
Schmeichel has found himself in the firing line in recent weeks after several high-profile mistakes.
The 39-year-old face criticism in particular following the 4-1 Europa League play-off defeat to Stuttgart last week.
He was at fault for at least two goals in that game. The first came from a poor clearance following a laboured attempt to save a relatively tame low strike from Bilal El Khannouss. He also later failed to deal with a 20-yard shot from Jamie Leweling.
There have been other instances too. A 3-2 win over Kilmarnock was marked by his role in two opposition goals, which there was a mistake against Aberdeen in the 2025 Scottish Cup final last year.
It’s led to questions about his role and how long the veteran can continue at the top level. Celtic fans in particular appear to have had enough and sections at Celtic Park booed him after last week’s defeat to Stuttgart.
