There’s no way to sugarcoat today, and none of us should even try. Martin O’Neill tried to soften it at full-time, but I’ll say this to the Celtic manager. If you’re going to accuse the fans of having an adverse effect on the team on Thursday night, then you need to get every decision absolutely right on the Sunday.

Today, you didn’t.

From the very start, the team selection was wrong. The substitutions were wrong. And, to make matters worse, the post-match comments about us being terrific were delusional.

There was nothing terrific about what we watched.

Nothing. It was abysmal. In fact, the best thing about today was the support the team received. Because of that, the critics of the fans need to take a long, hard look at themselves if they intend to keep blaming supporters for the mess this club is in.

Whatever is wrong at Celtic, the rot runs deep and it starts at the top. Crucially, it is not the responsibility of the supporters. Anyone who believes fan actions can damage this team more than the leadership already has is living in a fantasy world.
