Matty Cash is in contention to return to Aston Villa’s starting lineup when they host Leeds United in the Premier League on Saturday.

Cash missed Villa’s last two matches against Brighton and Newcastle with a knee injury he sustained following the draw at Bournemouth in early February.

However, the Polish international is now set to return to Unai Emery’s squad as they look to return to winning ways, having been knocked out of the FA Cup last weekend.

‘Matty Cash is coming back,’ Emery said when asked about Cash’s fitness at his pre-match press conference.

‘He trained the last two training sessions and he is feeling good, and he is coming back.’

Asked about the rest of his squad’s fitness, Emery added: ‘The players who were injured are still being injured – John McGinn, Boubacar Kamara, Youri Tielemans and Alysson.

‘Harvey Elliott, as well, is not available for tomorrow. The other players are available.’
