Jurgen Klopp’s agent Marc Kosicke has claimed both Chelsea and Manchester United made unsuccessful approaches to hire the German after his departure at Liverpool.

There was shock and surprise as Klopp announced he would be leaving Liverpool at the conclusion of the 2023/24 campaign following nine years in the hot seat at Anfield.

After what had been a difficult period for the club, Klopp steered the Merseyside giants to a total of eight pieces of silverware, including the Champions League trophy in 2019 and the Premier League title the following season.

The extraordinary era of success cemented Klopp’s place among Liverpool’s greatest-ever and most popular managers alongside the likes of Bill Shankly and Bob Paisley.

After stepping down from his post with the Reds, the 58-year-old took on a role as the Head of Global Soccer for Red Bull group, overseeing their international network of clubs, including RB Leipzig and Red Bull Salzburg, as an advisor.

Klopp has kept his cards close to his chest when it comes to his future plans and has repeatedly gone on record saying he would never manage another team in England other than Liverpool.
