It's getting tight in the chance for promotion from WSL2 and, with postponements coming into the mix, the battle for supremacy in the North East is also shaping up nicely.

Newcastle United welcome bottom club Portsmouth to Gateshead this Sunday having beaten their neighbours Southampton last week.

That victory saw them climb to fifth place, three points behind Bristol in the play-off place with a game in hand.

They certainly came out of the blocks quickly last weekend - Jordan Nobbs scored after 15 seconds - and they will have to play similarly again.

Portsmouth are a good side and drove Durham close a couple of weeks ago.

After the washout last Friday, Sunderland return to Eppleton hoping to put the disappointment of postponement behind them.

Nottingham Forest are the visitors, themselves in mid table. It may be the chance for young Welsh international Mared Griffiths to start.

Their other loanee, Caragh Hamilton, will have to wait as it is against her parent club.
