Scotland under-21 striker Rory Wilson has joined Austrian side Sturm Graz on loan.

The Aston Villa player was persuaded to make the move after speaking with Max Johnston, another Scotland international with experience at the club.

Johnston spent two years at Sturm Graz.

Wilson said: "I’ve heard a lot about Sturm Graz through Max Johnston.

"They are a big club in Austria with great fans, where young players get a chance.

"So it was clear to me right away that I absolutely wanted to seize this opportunity.

"I’m really looking forward to getting to know the team and working hard together to win as many games as possible."

The former Rangers forward could make his debut today in the match against SV Ried.

Sturm Graz sports director Michael Parensen said: "Rory Wilson is a highly talented young striker we've been following for some time.

"His strengths lie primarily in his play between the lines, his positioning in the penalty area, and his finishing.

"So he adds another dimension to our attack."
