Manchester United claimed a 2-0 victory at Leicester City in the Barclays Women’s Super League on Saturday afternoon.

United got off to a bright start and opened the scoring in the 13th minute as Julia Zigiotti Olme’s cross crept into the net at the far post.

United almost doubled their lead almost immediately, with goalkeeper Olivia Clark keeping out Melvine Malard’s effort.

A rare chance for Leicester came in the 39th minute as Phallon Tullis-Joyce was alert to punch Hannah Cain’s dangerous cross away to safety.

Hanna Lundkvist missed a chance to extend United’s lead before the break, heading over from a promising position.

The hosts started the second half the brighter side, with Tullis-Joyce being called to action in the 52nd minute, collecting Rachel Williams’ header.

The Foxes thought they had won a penalty after the hour mark when Shannon O’Brien was fouled by Anna Sandberg, but the appeals was waived away by referee Stacey Fullicks.

Elisabeth Terland squandered a chance in the 69th minute, sending her wide, before seeing her effort saved by Clark.
