Ryan Naderi’s move to Glasgow Rangers has been explained by his agent, who has admitted the 22-year-old was close to tears moving to Ibrox.

Ostsee Zeitung have comments from Naderi’s agent, Laurent Burkart, today. He appeared on the OZ podcast Nachspielzeit this week.

Naderi joined Rangers on deadline day after a month’s worth of drama and potential disappointment throughout January.

Rangers were keen on him and made several bids to Hansa Rostock to secure the winger. The German club resisted, despite Rangers offering a top price. The Scottish giants even offered to leave Naderi on loan in Germany until the summer.

That would have suited Naderi, who initially didn’t fancy moving mid-way through the season. He, though, soon changed his mind, seeing the move to Ibrox as a chance of a lifetime.

That made things particularly emotional in the final week of the window. Talks between Rostock and Rangers dragged on, with the deal threatening to fail completely. There were also disagreements between Naderi and Rostock sporting director Amir Shapourzadeh.

The deal eventually went through just two or three minutes before the Scottish deadline. Naderi joined Rangers for €5.5m. That’s a record for Rostock and the German third division....
