Chris Sutton has used Aaron Ramsey’s spell at Rangers as a terrible transfer example.

Ramsey missed the penalty that helped lose the Europa League final, something which he is said to still be guilty about.

That moment summed up his campaign at Ibrox, with Ramsey representing one of the worst Rangers signings in recent years.

It says a lot that Ramsey went on to join Championship side Cardiff City with a failed season at OGC Nice in between that and his Govan stint.

Ramsey now finds himself being used as a stick to beat other potential signings, with Sutton the latest to refer back to the Welshman.

Ramsey was highly rated when Rangers signed him and there was a genuine feeling that he could take the Light Blues to the next level.

It can be said that with Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s side reaching a Europa League final, he featured in a side that achieved big things.

With 13 appearances and four goal involvements in Govan, it would be unfair to suggest the former Wales international played a big role in that success.
