Last week, we covered claims from France about AS Monaco’s approach to sign Watford’s Nampalys Mendy. The mid-season window in the UK and France have already closed. This means the Ligue 1 side can no longer sign him at least until the end of the season.

A fresh report from Foot Mercato backs up Monaco’s interest and covers the latest on the 33-year-old.

As well as Monaco, Stade Rennais had considered signing the Watford player in the winter market. He was an ideal candidate to replace Glen Kamara, but the latter is still at the club.

Arka Gdynia have also come forward to sign the Senegal international. The winter window is still open in Poland, allowing them to take him away from Vicarage Road.

According to the report, the Polish club made a ‘concrete offer’ to the 33-year-old. This included an 18-month contract to make the AFCON winner the highest paid player at Arka Gdynia.

The Hornets seem to be unmoved by the concrete offer made to the Watford player. Foot Mercato state the Championship side have closed the door on Mendy’s exit outside the UK transfer window.
