Leicester City have completed the first of an expected trio of deadline-day signings with Joe Aribo arriving on loan from Southampton.

City bring in the 29-year-old midfielder until the end of the season, with Manchester City’s Divine Mukasa and Newcastle’s Jamaal Lascelles expected to follow before the 7pm deadline.

Aribo arrives to help City cope with a raft of injuries in the centre of the park. Jordan James and Aaron Ramsey are out until March, while Hamza Choudhury is due to have a scan on a potentially serious knee injury this week.

The club have also sold Boubakary Soumare, the Frenchman leaving for Qatar last week.

Out of favour with the Saints where he has made just seven appearances this season, Aribo is out of contract in the summer and so if he performs well, City could pick him up on a free transfer.

It is expected that Aribo will rival Louis Page in City’s number eight position...
