Preston North End halted their dismal run of three league defeats in a row with a valiant performance at Portman Road, with a 1-1 draw against promotion chasing Ipswich Town.

Lewis Gibson’s reactionary finish from a goalmouth scramble after a corner gave the Lilywhites the lead in the 70th minute, sending the away end into a surprised frenzy.

Unfortunately, for the travelling fans, the sick, cruel and twisted football gods had something up their sleeves, as Jack Clarke was brought down by Pol Valentin in the 90th minute, giving the referee no choice but to give the home side a late spot kick.

The decision in itself was arguably controversial in itself, however, it was the execution of the penalty that got everyone talking.

After what seemed to be a double touch, the referee dismissed the protest from the away team and North End left East Anglia with just a point, rather than all three.
