Amine Bassi has ended up on Derby County’s transfer agenda for the winter market.

That’s at least what Foot Mercato are reporting, and they cover an important update on Derby County.

The French-born attacking midfielder is a product of AS Nancy Lorraine’s academy. He spent four years with their first team before leaving them on a free transfer for FC Metz in 2021.

Bassi struggled for a prominent role at Metz and ended up playing only 372 minutes from 10 matches during his time at the club.

Metz allowed the 28-year-old to join League One side Barnsley on loan in January 2022. He enjoyed regular minutes with Barnsley, who were then in the Championship. Bassi managed two goals and five assists from 1,293 minutes from 16 matches.

The French club cut ties with him permanently when they sold him to Houston Dynamo FC in January 2023. Bassi was a regular for the MLS side, scoring 21 goals and contributing 18 assists from 114 matches.

His contract with Houston Dynamo expired last month and he’s now a free agent. Earlier in this window, John Eustace’s side completed the signing of Oscar Fraulo from Borussia Mönchengladbach.
