Everton’s negotiations with Fenerbahçe faced issues on Friday, but it was all set up for another try on Saturday.

As a recap, on January 23rd, Beto’s agent flew to Istanbul for transfer talks with Fenerbahçe. The Turkish club need a striker before the window closes, and the agent presented his client to them.

Everton then asked for Youssef En-Nesyri in a swap deal. That was something of a long shot given he’s close to joining Juventus. In addition, the striker has turned down multiple approaches from the Premier League due to weather concerns, however, he’s ready to embrace the cold of Turin for Juve.

En-Nesyri rejected the Everton and Beto swap idea, and the Merseyside club were all set up to resume negotiations.

In true January style, Fenerbahçe had initially offered a loan deal for Beto. That wasn’t good enough for Everton who responded with the swap idea. When the swap plan failed, the Toffees asked for €20m instead.

Yağız Sabuncuoğlu reports Everton then asked for a straight €20m transfer. Unfortunately, Fenerbahçe don’t think Beto is worth that and clearly don’t think it’s even a basis for negotiation.
