David Moyes fears Jack Grealish may require surgery on his injured foot as Everton wait to learn the full severity of his stress fracture. The 30-year-old has been seen by a specialist over the problem, which came to light this week but had been causing him discomfort for several weeks.

Moyes was unable to hide his disappointment as he spoke publicly on the loss of one of his star players for the first time on Friday.

And while he was reluctant to speculate over what it might mean for the rest of Grealish’s season, the Blues boss did concede it was a significant setback, accepting: “It’s a blow.”
