Florian Wirtz admits Liverpool's 1-1 draw with Burnley "feels like a defeat" as the wait for a Premier League win in 2026 goes on.

Wirtz scored his fourth goal for the Reds when he opened the scoring in the first half after Dominik Szoboszlai had earlier missed a penalty but the hosts were pegged back in the second half by Marcus Edwards's drilled finish.

It means the champions have now drawn four Premier League games this calendar year and Manchester United's 2-0 win over neighbours Manchester City earlier in the day sees the Red Devils now just a point behind Arne Slot's in the race for the top four.

"There were a few times where we could have made better decisions," Wirtz said. "We were unlucky in a few moments - like when Hugo Ekitike's goal was offside - but we didn't have so many big, big chances. In the end we scored only one goal and that wasn't enough.
