Niclas Füllkrug suffered a broken toe during AC Milan’s recent match against Fiorentina, just 106 minutes into his Serie A career. Italian outlets reported he fractured a phalanx, ruling him out for 2–4 weeks depending on recovery progress.

The injury occurred after only three appearances for Milan, all brief cameos as he worked toward match sharpness. Having previously alluded that he had played his last game for West Ham the German striker’s future at Milan now hinges on how quickly and how fully he recovers.

More realistically – at 33 with a broken toe, six or eight weeks out now will mean he’s more than likely heading back to West Ham come May – Milan are sure to hold back on any permanent deal if the German cannot prove his fitness.
