One goal in 601 minutes is not the return Leeds United supporters will have hoped for when Dominic Calvert-Lewin stepped through the door this summer.

At the same time, free agents are such for a reason. Everton could not agree new terms with the England international and felt going the extra mile to secure his services was not worth it, perhaps due to his goal return and his injury history.

Calvert-Lewin scored three goals in 1,613 Premier League minutes last season, and only one came from September 21 onwards.

After grabbing a goal and an assist against Tottenham Hotspur in January, he picked up a hamstring setback a fortnight later which ruled him until May. While Leeds have yet to be frustrated by injury, some fans are unimpressed with the striker’s shooting efforts.

His only goal so far has come from the head and, while the attacker does so much to help Leeds sustain attacks with hold-up play and aerial duels, he has squandered a number of chances that have fallen his way during home matches.
