Jamie Carragher has explained why he 'hopes' the hostility from Liverpool supporters towards Trent Alexander-Arnold decreases over time. The Reds faced their former right-back on Tuesday night as they took on Real Madrid in the Champions League.

Alexis Mac Allister's second-half header was enough for Liverpool to clinch a 1-0 win at Anfield. The victory over Arne Slot's side has put them on nine points from their opening four league phase matches.

It was during the summer that Alexander-Arnold called time on a 20-year association with Liverpool to join Real Madrid. The move came after months of speculation about his future with the 27-year-old's contract at Anfield expiring at the end of last season.
