Guglielmo Vicario has revealed what prompted him to push Lucas Bergvall away and gesture at the Tottenham stands after the loss to Chelsea on Saturday.

The boos were deafening after the final whistle at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Saturday, and one could understand the frustration of the supporters, given that Spurs had managed to register an xG of just 0.05 against Chelsea.

Despite the jerring, many of the Tottenham players walked around the pitch to applaud the supporters after the final whistle, including Lucas Bergvall, who had come off concussed earlier in the game.

However, Vicario spotted the midfielder getting abused by a supporter in the South Stand, and he decided to confront the fan.

The Spurs goalkeeper pushed Bergvall away towards the tunnel, and he could be seen repeatedly gesturing back towards the abusive supporter, pointing to him and then to his own eyes in an ‘I see you’ motion.

However, Vicario has now played down the incident, insisting that it was a case of just one bad apple behaving inappropriately.

When asked about the incident, the 28-year-old said (via Football.London): “In every environment, there are very good people and some bad people. Probably [Lucas] had contact with one bad person....
