Rui Borges has spoken for the first time about Wolves’ interest in appointing him as their next manager.

The Sporting boss had been linked with the Premier League side following the dismissal of Vítor Pereira, who left Molineux after a ten-game winless streak.

Record relayed that, speaking to Sport TV before Sporting’s trip to Turin, the 57-year-old was quick to address the rumours. “I’m in the house I want, happy where I am. May it be for many years, because that would be a good sign,” he said.

The comment was short, but it left little room for interpretation. Borges made it clear that his focus remains fully on Sporting.

His stance also echoes what had already been reported in the local press. He has no interest in leaving Lisbon mid-season, especially with his team performing strongly in both domestic and European competitions.

For Wolves, that means the search continues. The Premier League club are now evaluating other candidates to replace Pereira, but Borges’ firm statement suggests he won’t be one of them anytime soon.
