Manchester United legend Rio Ferdinand has lavished big praise on star Amad Diallo.

Diallo netted a superb 81st-minute equaliser against Nottingham Forest, rescuing a crucial point for United in a thrilling Premier League encounter.

It was a moment of redemption for the Ivorian who was comfortably beaten by Morgan Gibbs-White at the far post for Forest’s first goal right after the break.

Rio Ferdinand urged fans to focus on the positives Diallo brings to the team.

He said on his Rio Ferdinand Presents podcast: “I think that sometimes we get too caught up with what players can’t do.

“He is giving us so much going forward. I think he is a wonderful footballer.

“Would he be better as a right winger? I think he would be but that’s not detracting away from what he has been doing. I think he is just what this team need in this position right now.”

After a slow start to the season, Diallo has hit top form over the past three games, combining flair with relentless work rate.

He is working extremely hard in his new permanent role as a right wing-back.
