SAINTS hero and experienced midfielder Oriol Romeu is set to return to the club on a free transfer, the Daily Echo understands.

Romeu, 34, has been without a club since he mutually terminated his contract at Barcelona to help the Catalan giants.

A short-term deal has been agreed for Romeu's return to Saints, with the transfer now pending a medical and other transfer formalities.
