Manchester United have a glaring problem in their midfield and they must address it by making a statement signing next summer.

While Carlos Baleba and Adam Wharton have both been heavily linked with moves to Old Trafford, Elliot Anderson once again made the strongest case for himself this weekend.

Anderson starred in Nottingham Forest’s 2-2 draw with Man United in the Premier League on Saturday.

The 22-year-old looked like a true all-rounder, combining relentless energy with intelligent decision-making.

He showed real bite in duels and registered an incredible 14 ball recoveries.

He also played three key passes and completed 15 passes into the final third.

Bruno Fernandes and Casemiro played 14 and 11 passes into the final third.

The Forest star also displayed superb positional discipline, something both Kobbie Mainoo and Manuel Ugarte have struggled with under manager Ruben Amorim.

His ability to progress the ball with purpose makes him a far more dynamic option than Ugarte, who continues to find minutes hard to come by at Old Trafford.

Anderson glided past four United players before threading a clever pass into Morgan Gibbs-White early in the game.
