Young forward Gustavo Nunes continues to chase his first real breakthrough at Brentford, 14 months after leaving Grêmio. A new report from Brazilian outlet Zero Hora, however, brings a few behind-the-scenes updates.

The story claims Nunes has hired a personal fitness coach to improve his conditioning and adapt faster to English football. He has already gained around four kilograms of muscle, complementing the club’s own work to get him ready for the Premier League’s pace.

His agent, João Lima, also confirmed that the player turned down an offer from the City Group in July. As we reported in August, Bahia, their South American club, wanted him on loan for regular minutes, but Nunes preferred to stay in London and fight for his place in Keith Andrews’ squad.

The 19-year-old has recently returned from a thigh injury and made three appearances for Brentford’s U21 side since late September. The plan is to be available for selection before the November international break, as he looks to rejoin the first team.
