Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard has rubbished suggestions that Arne Slot's job should be under threat. The Dutchman led the Reds to the Premier League title in his first season in charge after taking over from Jurgen Klopp.

But after a summer of huge change at Anfield, which saw Liverpool spend more than £400m on new signings and recoup more than £200m in sales, Slot's second campaign in the hotseat is proving more difficult.

After an excellent start to the season, which saw his side win their opening seven matches after losing the Community Shield to Crystal Palace on penalties, the Reds' form has nosedived.
