Rotherham United were, again, knocked out at the first time of asking of the FA Cup after taking an early lead by League Two side Swindon Town in extra time at the New York Stadium.
The game was just 5 minutes old when Sam Nombe got the better of the Swindon defence and saw his shot from the middle of the box fly past Connor Ripley in the visitors goal. The Robins came straight back at the Millers and Millers’ ‘keeper Cameron Dawson did well to tip a Gavin Kilkenny shot from outside the box over his crossbar before he made a save from Ollie Palmer from the resulting corner. A Sam Nombe sandwich on the quarter of an hour mark brought a free-kick for the Millers which Joe Powell put past the post. Dan Gore and Nombe worked well together the latter putting his effort wide before a floated ball from Powell found Nombe’s head but he saw the ball hit the upright before going to safety.
