Former West Brom midfielder Matheus Pereira could be on his way back to England, according to new reports from Brazil. 

Bolavip revealed that the Cruzeiro playmaker, one of the standout performers in the 2025 Brasileirão, has recently attracted interest from clubs in the English market.

The 29-year-old has been in remarkable form this season, topping several statistical rankings among midfielders in Brazil’s top flight. Pereira leads in shots on target (23), chances created from open play (51), successful passes in the final third (366) and duels won (162). 

His level has reignited curiosity abroad, particularly given his successful spell at West Brom, where he registered 43 goal involvements in 77 appearances between 2019 and 2021.

Even so, the attacking midfielder appears in no rush to leave Belo Horizonte. Cruzeiro have already scheduled a meeting with his representatives for early December to discuss a contract renewal until 2028, with an automatic one-year extension option up to 2029 being requested by the player’s camp.
