Liverpool were "savaged" by a San Marino fan account after their Carabao Cup exit, with fans falling for the ruse.
Arne Slot's Reds' crisis continued as a second-string side were thrown to the wolves in a 3-0 defeat at home against Crystal Palace in the fourth-round on Wednesday evening, with the Reds reduced to 10 men late on after young defender Amara Nallo was sent off. And their woes would get worse after the full-time whistle.
Liverpool's account shared the 3-0 score line on X, formerly known as Twitter, only to be put down by a San Marino account which replied: "Hello, please play against us."
The European microstate are the lowest ranked international side on the planet - winning their first fixture in over 20 years against Liechtenstein in 2024, a feat they have since managed to repeat.
However, they are yet to win a game during the World Cup qualifiers and sit bottom of their group with seven losses and one goal scored.
