Thomas Frank has confirmed that yet another Tottenham player picked up an injury in the lead-up to the Carabao Cup clash against Newcastle United.

It emerged before Wednesday’s clash that Archie Gray has picked up a calf problem, with the 19-year-old being the latest to join what is an extremely boated injury list for Tottenham.

That means that Spurs now have double-digit injury absentees, with the situation getting almost as bad as it did during the club’s peak injury crisis last season.

It turns out that another youngster, whom we have seen a lot of this season, also picked up a strain this week.

Odobert’s name was missing from Tottenham’s matchday squad at St James’ Park, with Xavi Simons being deployed on the left once again.

Frank has now revealed that the France Under-21 international picked up a side strain in the lead-up to the game, but indicated that he could be back as early as Saturday’s London derby against Chelsea.

When asked about Odobert, the Tottenham boss said after the 2-0 defeat to Newcastle (via Football.London): “Odobert had a side, strain, unfortunately, that kept him out for this game. Also, we need to assess him but it could look positive for Chelsea.”
