Thomas Frank has said that he was pleased with Tottenham’s performance at St James’ Park, even though his side were dumped out of the Carabao Cup.

Frank made a few changes to his line-up for the clash at Newcastle United, but that did not come as a surprise, particularly given that Tottenham’s injuries are now piling up very quickly.

In the end, the depleted Spurs side that stepped out onto the field could not get the job done, with a headed goal in either half from two crosses being enough to see the home side emerge 2-0 winners.

Despite their huffing and puffing, Tottenham failed to create too many clear-cut chances, which has been a pattern for much of the season, but the Spurs head coach was encouraged by what he saw from his side in the North East.

Even though the Lilywhites failed to find the back of the net, Frank felt that they played some good football going forward.

The 52-year-old suggested that it was only the timing of the final runs into the box or the weight of the balls into the area that his side did not get right at Newcastle.
