Newcastle continued their defence of the Carabao Cup with a 2-0 win over Tottenham to qualify for the quarter-finals.

9 Ramsdale: Made a string of fine stops, the best of which came on the hour-mark when he dived to his left and pulled off a brilliant one-handed save to deny Sarr. He’s only a deputy at Newcastle but showed here that he’s elite.

7 Krafth: Big step-up for the defender, whose only game-time this season had come against Bradford. But took it in his stride and was rock solid.

8 Thiaw: One of only three players to keep his place in the side. Another excellent display.

9 Schar: Brilliant header to put Newcastle ahead and an outstanding return to the starting XI. A reminder of his class. Has given Howe a decision to make at West Ham.

8 Burn: Did an excellent job on Brennan Johnson, who was frustrated and replaced.

9 Tonali: Last week’s illness clearly took nothing out of Tonali. The midfielder was everywhere. Delivered the cross for the first goal and...
