AFC Wimbledon attacking midfielder Marcus Browne has signed a new two-year contract with the club.

The 27-year-old joined the Dons as a free agent in January and has scored three goals in 21 appearances.

Browne started and played 90 minutes before being replaced in added time as the Wombles beat Walsall at Wembley to earn promotion to League One via the play-offs.

"I'm really pleased to be staying here. It's a great club full of amazing people, great coaching staff and a great group of lads," he told the club website, external.

"It's going to be an exciting and eventful season. One which I'm really looking forward to."

Browne follows Ryan Johnson and Sam Hutchinson in committing his future to Wimbledon, while Steve Seddon and Joe McDonnell have re-signed for the club.

The Dons have also brought in Alistair Smith from Lincoln City on a permanent deal following his successful loan spell last season.

They begin the League One season away to Luton Town on Friday, 1 August, kick-off at 20:00 BST.
