Former Swansea City boss Luke Williams is reportedly closing in on a new job back in football.

Williams was relieved from his post with the Swans eight months ago, but now looks poised to take over at third tier strugglers Peterborough United.

Posh are currently rock bottom of League One, having won just three of their opening 13 games, a run that has seen them part company with Darren Ferguson.

The club are understood to be moving quickly to make Williams their new boss, although sources have stressed a deal is not yet done.

Nevertheless, should Williams be confirmed as the club's new boss this week, his first game would see him come up against a familiar opponent.

Cardiff City are the visitors to London Road this weekend, and the 44-year-old's Swansea connections will surely not go unnoticed.

Williams faced the Bluebirds three times as a head coach, winning his first south Wales derby in charge of the Swans with a 2-0 victory in March 2024.
