Rafa Benitez has been named the new head coach of Panathinaikos.

The former Champions League winner has signed a two-year deal with the Greek club, taking on his 17th managerial role.

Benitez, who once managed Liverpool, Chelsea, and Newcastle, has been out of management since leaving Celta Vigo in March 2024.

He now aims to lead Panathinaikos, who currently sit seventh in the Super League, eight points behind leaders PAOK.

The club has played six games so far this season.
