Newcastle United star Sandro Tonali is tied down until at least 2029, new reports say, and more talks are on the way for one of the Magpies' most prominent players - and some fans in the Chronicle Live comments section are happy to see the club doing more to keep hold of their best assets.

Tonali's original contract ran until 2028, but a one-year extension set a new expiry date of summer 2029. On top of that, the club hold an option to extend it for a further year, into 2030 - giving Newcastle plenty of leverage when it comes to fending off rising interest in one of their most important players.

Tonali is happy in black and white, and has been impressive since he made his return from his FIFA ban, for betting offences. Talks are scheduled for a fresh deal regardless of his contract expiry date, which will involve the club's new sporting director, Ross Wilson.
