Camera footage that tracks a Burnley player’s actions during Saturday’s match against Leeds United has emerged online, amid a police investigation into an allegation of spitting.

The authorities have not yet formally confirmed the identity of the player in question, though it has been widely reported the Football Association and Lancashire Police are both looking into claims Burnley midfielder Hannibal Mejbri spat at Leeds United supporters during Saturday’s game. Leeds United are aware of the allegation of spitting while Lancashire Police is working to “establish the facts”.

A video that has emerged on TikTok appears to show a Burnley substitute drop something by the goal in front of the away end while warming up during the match. The player then turns towards the visiting support.

It is not conclusive what happens thereafter, but away supporters can be seen up in arms and gesturing towards the player. Some fans can be seen complaining to stewards in front of them.
