Bruno Fernandes has claimed Manchester United reduced Liverpool supporters to booing their own side during the first-half of his side's win at Anfield. Harry Maguire’s header six minutes from time was enough to secure Ruben Amorim’s men a 2-1 victory after Cody Gakpo had initially cancelled out Bryan Mbeumo’s opener.

United, though, impressed in the first half and had multiple opportunities to double their lead. And Fernandes believes that the way his side set up resulted in some Reds supporters turning on their own team.

"It's always good to win games,” he said. “We know what this kind of games means for our club and fans and also for ourselves in the moment we are right now.
