Atlético Madrid’s Nicolás González will be contention to face Arsenal in the Champions League on Tuesday.

That’s according to Monday’s edition of Marca. The Spanish newspaper reports there’s concern over the 27-year-old’s fitness for the Arsenal clash.

He joined the La Liga side on loan from Juventus last summer. Last Saturday, the winger started in Atlético’s 1-0 win over CA Osasuna and a concussion forced him off the pitch in the 43rd minute.

Marca report González wanted to continue but Atlético’s medical staff weren’t willing take any risk. There’s slight optimism over his availability to face the Gunners.

The Argentina international underwent tests on Sunday morning. It’s claimed the results have shown ‘no after-effects’ and the club’s doctor has confirmed ‘there’s no injury’.

Therefore, the newspaper report the attacker will be part of Diego Simeone’s squad that’ll travel to London on Monday morning. He’ll train with the rest of the squad later today in the UK.

Another Spanish newspaper, AS, claim Simeone will be able to count on González against Arsenal.

They report the South American underwent tests on Saturday and another one yesterday. The results have shown no concern over his availability against Mikel Arteta’s side.
