Thomas Frank has spoken about whether Tottenham captain Cristian Romero could be fit to face Monaco in the Champions League on Wednesday.

The Tottenham captain was ruled out of the clash against Aston Villa in the last minute after facing an issue during the warm-up.

That meant that Kevin Danso was handed his first start of the season alongside Micky van de Ven, and the Austrian gave a very good account of himself.

He more than held his own against Villa’s pacy frontline while his long throws were a constant threat, but Tottenham fans will be hoping that Romero’s issue is not serious.

Spurs suffered another bruising defeat at home as Villa came back from a goal down to win 2-1, owing to two excellent strikes, one in each half.

Speaking after the defeat, the Tottenham boss was asked what Romero’s issue was, and he responded (via the club’s official website): “It was a minor adductor issue, nothing big.”

The Lilywhites now have a huge game coming up in the Champions League as they get set to travel to France to take on Monaco.
