Tyler Morton has thrived since leaving Liverpool in the summer.

Morton has quickly become a fan favourite at Lyon due to his impeccable performances.

At the moment, it feels like Liverpool will regret selling the youngster, but on the face of things, it was certainly the right thing to do, especially since Ryan Gravenberch will be Arne Slot’s first choice.

Liverpool sold Morton for £15 million, with the club looking towards Stefan Bajcetic and Wataru Endo to be the Dutchman’s back-up this term.

And now, just a few months after leaving, the young Englishman has explained why he thinks Slot chose to move him on.

The 2023-24 season was the best of Morton’s career.

The midfielder spent the campaign on loan to Championship side Hull City, with Liam Rosenior lauding his performances at almost every chance he got.

Many Liverpool fans expected Morton to come into Slot’s first-team squad during the 2024-25 season and perhaps even rotate with Gravenberch, especially since they turned down multiple offers for him.
