Ryan Babel has admitted one of his former team-mates was the 'tenant from hell' after renting his Merseyside home out.

The former Liverpool winger bought his first house after joining the Reds in 2007.

Babel was just 19 at the time, going on to spend three-and-a-half years at Anfield.

After making 146 appearances for the club, he left for Hoffenheim in January 2011.

Later that year, his compatriot Royston Drenthe completed a loan move to Everton from Real Madrid.

The pair had played together for the Netherlands at both youth and senior level, including at the 2008 Olympics.

As a result, Babel rented out his house to Drenthe during his time with the Toffees.

However, this was a move he would live to regret, which he has now revealed on social media.

In a post announcing the house was up for sale, Babel wrote: "This house holds so many memories.

"It was the first place I moved into after leaving my parents’ home, full of excitement, mistakes, and lessons.
