Dario Vidosic has given a promising update on his Albion defender who was stretchered off at Arsenal.

Maelys Mpome required lengthy treatment after being hit in the face by a ball struck from close range.

Concerned team-mates and fans watched as a group of paramedics tended to her.

The incident cast a shadow over the Seagulls’ 1-0 defeat, in which an unfortunate own goal debited to Maria Olislagers proved to be the difference.

Albion later confirmed Mpome recovered in the dressing room and was able to travel home with the rest of the squad.

Head coach Vidosic said: “As far as I am aware, I think she was concussed, so she was out on impact.

“I quickly asked the guys because I wanted to get an update and see how she was.

“They said she is much better. She is up and about so that is all positive news so hopefully there is nothing more. Fingers crossed.”

Albion put in a huge effort at the Emirates against the European champions but ended up empty-handed.
