Newcastle United summer transfer target Kobbie Mainoo is set to be made available for transfer next year, with Manchester United looking to overhaul their midfield options.

The Magpies were reportedly interested in a deal to sign the England star last summer, but no deal materialised and the 20-year-old remained at Old Trafford, where he is said to be keen to fight for his place.

However, his first-team opportunities have remained few and far between under Ruben Amorim this season, with the midfielder yet to start a Premier League game for the Red Devils.

He had made one start this term, in the Carabao Cup defeat to League Two side Grimsby Town in August, and has been limited to five appearances from the bench in the league.
