Chelsea’s Brazilian wonderkid Estêvão has revealed manager Enzo Maresca has been testing him in multiple attacking roles since his arrival at Stamford Bridge. This comes as the club continues to shape one of its most versatile young players. 

Speaking in a press conference for the Brazilian national team, the 18-year-old explained that he’s embracing the challenge of adapting to new positions in order to expand his tactical repertoire.

“In Chelsea it’s been very frequent [changing positions],” Estêvão said. “Maresca always tries to get the best out of me. Even in training he’s been putting me in different attacking roles so I can have more repertoire, more game awareness. In the last match against Liverpool I came on as a winger. And in the last Champions League game I played through the middle.”

The teenager has quickly earned praise for his maturity and flexibility. That’s both in the Premier League and with the Brazil national team. He’s now a regular presence under Carlo Ancelotti. “I’m open to various options on the pitch,” he added. “Whatever position is available, I’ll do it, inside or out wide.”
