Archie Gray made an emotional return to Leeds United on Saturday, even though he never made it onto the pitch against his former side. Tottenham came away 2-1 victors at Elland Road, but it appears the trip to Yorkshire was worth more than three points to the versatile Spurs star.

The 19-year-old, who signed for Tottenham from Leeds little more than a year ago, applauded all four stands following the full-time whistle to indicate his appreciation for the club that nurtured him throughout his youth. The Lilywhites paid their Premier League rivals between £25million and £30m, while Joe Rodon completed a permanent move in the opposite direction.

And Gray still has a place in the hearts of Leeds supporters. They ensured the teenage star knew exactly how they felt about him despite his exit more than 12 months before.

"You're Leeds and you know you are," the home crowd sang as Gray warmed up. The youngster could not help but produce smile.
