Ruben Amorim has admitted he's on the chopping block at Manchester United unless he can reverse the club's woeful run.

The Portuguese manager is gearing up for a pivotal showdown against Sunderland at Old Trafford on Saturday afternoon, in the wake of United's disastrous Premier League campaign that's seen them scrape together a paltry seven points from six games.

The under-fire manager conceded that he needs to start racking up wins or face the inevitable - being shown the door along with his coaching staff, less than a year into his tenure. "Nobody here is naive," Amorim asserted. "We understand that we need results to continue the project.

"We will reach a point that is impossible for everyone, because this is a very big club with a lot of sponsors, with two owners.

"It's normal. You can't run away from the results. Then you have the baggage from last season, but last season for me doesn't matter.
